We are pleased to announce that we received the JTS (Japan Treasure Summit) Hozan Yamamoto Memorial Award (fourth).

The Hozan Yamamoto Memorial Award was established in November 2015 with the objective of “Rewarding people who have realized collaboration in different fields by conducting research in special fields of study and in turn taken a proactive role in activities to disseminate the amazing qualities of the arts of Japan to the world” in order to commemorate the shakuhachi bamboo flute player Hozan Yamamoto who was designated as a living national treasure.

I have a very strong affinity for bamboo, and feel very honored and overjoyed to receive this award since I feel a very close connection to Hozan Yamamoto due to the fact that he wrote the book entitled “People and Bamboo”. This has led to a determination on my part to continue delivering this message to the world and expanding upon it while being keenly aware of contemporary circumstances.
