In the post town of Tsuchiyama, depicted on a rainy day by Hiroshige Utagawa in his “Tōkaidō Fifty-Three Stations”, we designed a roadside station inspired by the expansive rain-protective eaves. The approximately 20-meter cantilevered eaves serve as a visual landmark from Route 1.

The exterior walls are clad in large-scale louvers made of locally sourced cedar. Through the gap between the two buildings, which house multifunctional spaces such as a coworking area and a community meeting room, visitors glimpse the serene rural landscape stretching out behind Route 1.
