Perched on a hill overlooking Beppu Bay, we designed a hideaway hotel using local cypress logs and bamboo, a specialty of Oita.

For this hideaway hotel, intended for close friends and their companions, we felt that a simple warmth, achieved through the generous use of local materials, would be fitting.

Both the washbasins and lighting were designed and crafted specifically for this hotel in collaboration with artisans. The Takatori-yaki ceramic basins utilize techniques from Fukuoka’s 400-year-old pottery tradition, while the bamboo lighting fixtures draw from Beppu’s deeply rooted local bamboo craft heritage

Each room features a versatile layout suitable for workations, challenging the idea of a “third nest” – neither home, hotel, nor office.
