Located in Oyama-cho in Shizuoka Prefecture, this project is a wooden community exchange center annexed to Ashigara Station on the JR Gotemba Line. The concept was to redefine the station not merely as a transportation facility but as a communal hub. A large, terraced space was created that faces Mount Fuji directly, serving multiple purposes such as a waiting area, local information center, exhibition space for regional artists, and a branch office for the town.
The roof ascends in the direction of Mount Fuji and is supported by interlocking timber elements that follow a parabolic geometry. The curvature of the roof structure resonates with the silhouette of Mount Fuji, establishing a symbolic and spatial connection. The structure uses locally sourced cedar known as Fujisan Kintoki Wood, promoting local industry and serving as a symbol of regional revitalization.
