Moction 4th Anniversary Exhibition
An exhibition of wooden monuments using a new joint system at MOCTION, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government’s PR facility for wood use.
We attempted to propose a new use of wood that can be freely transformed in proportion while attempting to reduce the environmental burden, by using a joint system produced with 3D printing to facilitate movement, assembly, disassembly, storage, and reuse.
Like plants and other living creatures, the exhibit allowed visitors to experience, on a variety of scales, how architecture and objects of the future will coexist with nature, changing their overall shape in response to light, wind, rain, topography, and other surrounding conditions.
This monument was designed as a “tree connected to the earth” to promote the GREENxEXPO 2027 to be held in Kamiseya, Yokohama in 2027 at the National Urban Greening Fair. Thereafter, this “tree” will be moved and “grow” to various other locations as well.
