A repository for a wooden Amitabha Buddha statue (designated an important cultural asset) dating back to 12th century, standing in the precincts of Anyo-ji Temple in Toyoura-cho,Yamaguchi Prefecture.

External walls are made of adobe 35 cm cube, in a reproduction of the local traditional adobe method. Partially reinforced with iron plates,‘porous’details of adobe were developed, designed to filter air and light. Since adobe has a humidity controlling function, air conditioning was not installed, adopting the idea of regulating the environment by means of the material itself.
