Forest Edge
At the edge of Strasbourg, we designed a new Exhibition Centre. Rooted in the cityscape and open to light, we sought to create a new silhouette for the city.
Named Lisières / Forest Edge, the project rises like a built clearing between city and nature. A series of slender wooden columns filters the light and supports the structure, evoking a forest edge in motion.
Above, the roof unfolds in angled planes, like a suspended canopy. Its geometry welcomes daylight, allows natural airflow, and offers gentle ventilation. The rhythm of its folds reflects the diversity of the spaces beneath, giving a more human scale to the overall programme.
The exhibition halls beneath are spacious and open, supported by a hybrid structure that combines metal and wood, balancing strength, warmth, and adaptability. Just as contemporary exhibition evolve in form, the space unfolds freely and fluidly.
Here, architecture steps back to let experience come forward. Inside and outside blend. The landscape flows in, light travels through, the breeze moves between the columns. Everything breathes.
Along the canal and across the plaza, the pivoted posts each oriented with subtle variation form a vibrant sequence, an organic rhythm that guides the eye and invites entry. This new civic space becomes a threshold: a place for exchange, passage, and harmony between innovation and poetry. A gentle landmark where the city reconnects with the land.
