In Yusuhara Town, known for the Shimanto River basin, we designed a hotel restaurant inspired by the terraced rice fields, senmaida.

A hybrid frame of local cedar and steel rises above the water surface, supporting a spindle-shaped roof reminiscent of the clouds in the “Hotel Above the Clouds,” appears to float.

Collaborations with local crafts, such as bamboo weaving and handmade Japanese paper (washi) by Rogier Uitenboogaart, are integrated throughout the space.
