Z58 (Water / Light, Zhongtai Holding Group Shanghai lighting showroom and office)
A three-story reinforced concrete factory was renovated into an office building and showroom for a lighting design company. A buffer zone of water and greenery was introduced between the building and the front road, and two guest rooms appearing to float on water were added on the rooftop using reflective water surfaces and glass, creating a transitional space between the sky and the architecture.
Facing the front road, the first green screen was composed using mirror-finished stainless steel plant boxes, followed by a water screen made of textured glass. The atrium space sandwiched between these two screens brings a sense of tranquility and shields the architecture from the noise of Shanghai. The rooftop water surface similarly protects the two glass boxes placed above it from urban noise.
