Koushi for Salvatori
We would like to introduce Koushi (格子), meaning “frame” in Japanese.
This concept draws from the Japanese approach of designing spaces as modular systems, much like arranging tatami mats into endless variations. Similarly, Koushi offers a basic module composed of a few essential elements, allowing for diverse configurations. The design itself remains intentionally quiet, letting the user decide how to compose and express.
At KKAA, we value understanding materials and how best to use them. Each component of this system is thoughtfully paired with the right material, ensuring it performs and ages beautifully.
A core idea here is that the final arrangement is left open. We see it as providing a vocabulary and grammar so others can create their own expressions.
This is only the beginning. The system is designed to evolve, welcoming new materials and ideas over time. As always, we imagine our interiors as gentle landscapes, spaces that can be arranged like small, joyful gardens.
