“COCOON” is one of the Pavilions we have designed for the purpose of tea ceremonies. It has been designed in wood to commemorate the handover ceremony of the Olympic Flame. This choice of wood is an homage to the New National Stadium in Tokyo by KKAA. It is a temporary, mobile tea house made from Birch plywood. The panels are 15mm thick and arrayed at 90mm intervals and fixed together using dowels. These panels form an organic shape which expresses “inheritance and accumulation.”
