We designed a 7.2 sqm hut using cross-laminated timber (CLT). It is a flexible hut that can adapt to any function and fits the new lifestyle post-COVID-19.
The walls on all four sides made of 90mm-thick CLT are exposed in the interior. The openings, which are as narrow as possible to demonstrate the strength of the CLT, effectively bring the outdoors into the space, taking inspiration from traditional tea houses.
Originally designed for use in large-scale buildings, by using CLT in a hut-sized building, we proposed a new use for CLT. To recycle materials, left-over wood from this hut will be reprocessed and used to design furniture (Moku-an bench & Moku-an table).
