Healthian Wood [Phase-1]
In the rice paddies at the foot of the Tateyama Mountain Range, we designed “small huts” that connect the blessings of nature with people. An organic food restaurant, an herb oil extraction workshop integrated with an herb field, and a large roof for events echoing the silhouette of Tateyama Mountain, are dispersed to be in harmony with the region’s scattered villages. The traditions of the villages are re-imagined into the present day using natural materials such as rice straw and wooden decks floating on rice paddies. We attempted to be thorough in achieving “local production,” in using materials such as rice straw insulation and washi paper with herbs.
