Tomioka Warehouse Toilet
Within a plaza formed by a group of warehouses characterized by the warm textures of brick, Ōya stone, and wood, a ventilated wooden toilet was designed, inspired by kizuri — the wooden lath used as a substrate for plastering — and relying on natural airflow rather than mechanical systems.
By installing locally sourced cedar boards with 18-millimeter gaps between them, an interior space gently filled with soft, filtered light was created.
