Chokkura Shelter
Adjacent to Chokura Plaza, as part of the main station building at Hōshakūji Station on the Tōhoku Main Line, we designed a soft, open, public tunnel space where greenery and stainless-steel mesh intertwine.
Without the use of heavy steel frames, stainless steel mesh panels are connected through arc welding and assembled into a folded plate, origami-like structural system. Through this process, a transparent and delicate tunnel is formed, appearing to merge seamlessly with the surrounding plants.
