Japan 2007Lucien Pellat-Finet – Tokyo Midtown Shop
This boutique at Tokyo Midtown was created for Lucien Pellat-Finet, who is called the “King of Cashmere”. Each piece of structural plywood was cut with a laser cutter to have a differing curved shape, and regularly arranged at a pitch of 10cm to create space that feels like a soft cave.
Using a rough inexpensive material like structural plywood in Tokyo Midtown with its many luxurious boutiques may appear foreign. We expressed the philosophy of Lucien who wishes to have cashmere become a material that people wear when walking on streets in their neighborhoods by using structural plywood.
